Urokinase is an endogenous serine protease plasminogen activator but is not fibrin-specific. It activates circulating plasminogen, producing a systemic lytic state. Its distribution half-life is eight minutes and its elimination half-life is 48 minutes. It is not marketed in Australia, but may be available through the Special Access Scheme.
